Happy b-day man, hope you´ll love it ^^ !

Short backstory for it for the sake of having one :

Walking forward, Luffy suddenly stopped as he felt a prescence nearby. Raising his head slighly, he could see a shadow infront of him and once looking forward he remained surprised to see him. Shanks.

Not saying anything to each other, Shanks formed a faint smile and asked Luffy how he has been, only for Luffy to quickly reply he was sorry and kneeled down infront of Shanks. About to ask what for, Shanks then knew. Thinking Luffy´s acting too seriously, Shanks told him to get up but Luffy refused.

Luffy: I´m sorry...I was meant to find you, not the other way around...I´m sorry it took song long, and...
Shanks: Come on now Luffy... I know what you been through... finding me was the least you had to ...

Luffy: No, I made a promise that day. And until I can´t... I intended to fullfill it to the end... Shanks...
Shanks: Luffy... it´s a hat. Not a boat. Not a friend. Not even a life. That, is worth fully protecting...

Luffy: You said it yourself... it´s a treasure you left behind... for me to safekeep... until we met again...
Shanks: You´re someone I left behind... for safekeeping, away from the sea... you surprised me Luffy...

Luffy: I promised you , that I would become Pirate King... I thought you knew that I meant it Shanks...
Shanks: I knew... it only surprised me... that you could make it through... and what you are today...

With the wind hinting it to him, Shanks looked beyond Luffy and saw his friends approach, enough time as Shanks told Luffy to get up. To stand on the same level as him. And to look him in the eyes.

Yet Luffy still refused. And waited. For Shanks to take back the hat from him. Sighing, Shanks turned his back at Luffy and looked beyond towards the sea, and told Luffy to do the same. Glancing, Luffy saw the ocean, with all the stars and moonlight reflected upon the crystal clear water that night.

Shanks: Luffy... it´s true... that I left behind treasure to safekeep while I sailed onto the sea... treasure I truly feel rich to have... treasure I would sacrifice for... yet it´s not just the bounty I collected, my home I left behind or even my hat I entrusted for safekeeping. You´re my most precious treasure Luffy...

A treasured friend, someone that saw me for who I am and not what I was, and that I hoped I would find at the dock back home... waiting for me to give back my hat... kept safe from what I experienced ever since I left... but then I found out... that you set sail... and now... I finally get see you once again...

A captain. A pirate. Putting himself and my hat through everything I been through, maybe even more... and I thought about sailing to find you... stop the little kid with dreams from taking my hat with him to bottom of the sea... but then I realized that fate gave it to you. Your dreams. Your powers. A destiny.

Just like me... so I kept my distance and decided to have alittle more faith in you despite the quite troublesome times approaching for us both... and now that we´re here... you want to keep that promise to me... but just as it was my gift to you Luffy... you gave me something much more in return...

For that, my humble hat is yours to keep... it´s been through everything you come across from the moment you set sail... it´s a part of you Luffy... sharing every until this moment... for good or worse... it´s who you are, Strawhat Luffy... I wouldn´t either really be Red-hair Shanks if I put back on a hat …



Having almost been convinced, Luffy yelled out for Shanks to take it. Turning around, Shanks put his hand onto the hat, instantly remembering how it felt, even feeling like he just put it on Luffy so many years ago. As Shanks slightly smiled and lifted up the hat abit from Luffy, yet told him to stay down.

As Shanks told Luffy that he has yet to fully keep his promise. To be Pirate King. For that, Shanks would not accept to take it from Luffy. Not until that day. When Luffy can look Shanks in the eyes and return the hat with his dreams fulfilled. Only then, could Shanks truly be ready take it back from him.

It was all Luffy needed, bursting into tears, knowing that Shanks was right. Despite his sobbing not making much sense, Shanks knew what Luffy tried to say. That it´s a promise. To return it as Pirate King. Putting it back, Shanks turned away and walked off, shortly before the crew reached Luffy...
